Education Campaign
A field trip to Stones River National Battlefield has been a part of fourth and fifth grade classes in Middle Tennessee for many years. This provided a unique way of teaching young students about a significant major battle near where they live bringing The Civil War to life. For some, it is the first time they ever hiked in the woods and seen nature up close.
For other students, they have participated in studies of wildlife on the grounds of the national battlefield using trail cameras they help set up and then monitor the photographs each month.
Unfortunately, the park is unable to schedule, coordinate and conduct these activities during this school year. The Friends group is conducting a campaign to provide the necessary funding to bring on-board the necessary staffing to get the education opportunities back up and running. In addition, funds are needed to create new teaching methods taking advantage of remote learning technology to expand to schools unable to attend the battlefield in person.
Please help us achieve our $75,000 goal for the Education Campaign. Many grant opportunities require matching funds. Your dollars can assist us in multiplying the contribution and grant monies.
